Connectivity to different areas of Bangalore

Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka, is known for its well-developed transportation network that facilitates both intercity and intracity travel. The city is connected to major destinations within the state such as Mysore, Hassan, and Tumkur, as well as to cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Kerala through major roads, railways, and air routes.

Air Routes

Bengaluru is well connected to international destinations through Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), also known as Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL). The airport is served by various domestic and international airlines. The airport can be easily accessed through the BMTC Vayu Vajra, a dedicated airport bus service.

Rail Routes

Bengaluru is part of the Indian Railways under the South Western Railway Zone. The city has three main railway stations: Bengaluru City Railway Station, Bengaluru Cantonment Station, and Yeshwanthpur Railway Station.

Bus Transport

Bengaluru has an extensive network of roads and bus connectivity, making it highly accessible. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) operates the major bus transport system, with Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic), K.R. Market, and Shantinagar Bus Station serving as the major bus terminals. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) provides intercity bus services to various parts of Karnataka and neighboring states.

Metro

Bengaluru has a rapid transit system called Namma Metro, operated by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The metro system started its operations in 2011 and currently has two functional lines: the Purple Line (east-west) and the Green Line (north-south), covering a total distance of 42.3 km. The metro network is set to expand with the construction of the Yellow Line, Red Line, and Blue Line, which will further extend connectivity to the suburbs and the city airport.

Public Bike Sharing System

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has introduced a Public Bike Sharing (PBS) system at various points in the city, especially near metro stations, promoting sustainable modes of transportation. Additionally, privately-run app-based bike rentals, auto-rickshaws, taxis, and other transportation options are also available.
